    EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's women's fencing head coach Laurie Schiller was selected as the Midwest Fencing Conference Coach of the Year. The award is the fourth for the 29th-year leader of the Wildcats.

    Schiller, who reached his 900th career victory this season (919-396 overall), guided his sixth-ranked team to a 36-5 record, including a second-place finish in the Midwest Fencing Conference. His team had five of its members qualify for the NCAA tournament, where NU took seventh in the women's division. Schiller's 36 wins is a school record for wins in a single season.

    Schiller has garnered national attention as well during his tenure at Northwestern. In 1998 and in 2004 he was voted USFC Collegiate Coach of the Year.
