EVANSTON, Ill. -- Head coach Joe McKeown announced today (Friday, Nov. 11) the signing of three players to National Letters of Intent. This year's class features Tennessee native Lauren Douglas (Collienville, Tenn./Briarcrest Christian), Atlanta native Christen Johnson (Powder Springs, Ga.) and local product Maggie Lyon (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier).

"The work ethic and academic commitment are what we are excited about in all three of our signees," McKeown said. "They truly embody what it means to be a student-athlete and will have a great impact on our program. I think our coaching staff did a tremendous job trying to recruit nation-wide. Besides talent, they look for people of great character and I think this class is outstanding in both areas."

"We are really excited about Lauren becoming part of our program," McKeown said. "She is an incredibly gifted player and also a great person. She had numerous choices and we are really proud she chose Northwestern. She reminds me a little bit of Scottie Pippen."

"Christen is a power forward that will bring physical presence to the Big Ten and is one of those players that will keep getting better and better. I'm so impressed with her character and potential leadership. She has the intangibles that coaches really look for and she will really help us with power and post play."

"We had the opportunity to watch Maggie grow up in front of us and play her career as both a high school player and on the summer circuit. We feel like she was an incredible person to bring into Northwestern. Like Lauren and Christen, she had many choices, and for her to play in front of friends and family will be a great experience. I think she has a chance to be one of the best shooting guards in all of college basketball."
