EVANSTON, Ill. -- Beth Combs and the Wildcats are poised to host the Chicago Challengers on Friday, Nov. 3 in the first exhibition of the 2006-07 season. Tip is set for 7 p.m. at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Admission is free.

"We are looking forward to our exhibition game," head coach Beth Combs said. "We are excited to put it all together and compete. It will give us a nice opportunity to work on our game and continue to prepare for our home opener on the 10th."

The Chicago Challengers' roster features nine former student-athletes, including two former Big Ten competitors in Kristi Faulkner (Iowa) and Ashley Berggren (Illinois). Former student-athletes from UW-Milwaukee, Washburn, Missouri, Western Michigan, Midwestern, DePaul and North Park round out the team.

Northwestern will officially open the 2006-07 campaign on Friday, Nov. 10 at home against Valparaiso. The game is part of a Wildcat double-header that features the women's team versus Valpo at 6 p.m. and the men's team taking on Cornell following that contest. It is the season-opener for both squads.
