EVANSTON, Ill. -- The 2013-14 Northwestern women's basketball team has a number of new faces on this year's roster with freshmen Nia Coffey, Ashley Deary, Christen Inman and Allie Tuttle joining the Wildcat family. As we get ready for the upcoming season, we will introduce Northwestern fans to this year's freshman class.
A 5-4 guard from Texas, Ashley Deary left Flower Mound High School as the all-time leading scorer and guided her squad to the 2013 District 5-5A Championship and Bi-District Championship. She was a 2013 Texas Girls Coaches' Association (TGCA) First-Team All-State honoree, Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) All-Region honoree and 2013 McDonald's All-American nominee.
Ashley also excelled in the classroom at Flower Mound High School achieving honor roll all four years, was a three-time Academic All-District recipient and graduated with honors while receiving the Distinguished Academic Student award.
Ashley is one of two Texas natives in this year's freshman class as guard Christen Inman hails from Katy, Texas, which is just outside the Houston area. Ashley's hometown of Flower Mound is near Dallas.
Northwestern fans have their first opportunity to see the Wildcat newcomers in action on Wednesday, Nov. 6 when the team hosts Lewis for an exhibition game at 5 p.m. NU's 2013-14 regular season schedule begins Sunday, Nov. 10 with UIC visiting Welsh-Ryan Arena at 5 p.m.
