CASTELLANZA, Italy-- Northwestern wrapped up its 2012 Italian Tour with an 84-61 victory over Gianst Marghera Tuesday evening in Castellanza, Italy. Kendall Hackney and Lauren Douglas led the 'Cats with 13 points each. With the triumph, the Wildcats finish 4-0 in Italy.

"I think it was a great experience on and off the court for us," head coach Joe McKeown said. "I feel like it's a once in a lifetime trip for so many of us and we learn about a new culture in a short period of time. We crammed everything in that we could and I think it was an incredible learning opportunity for us. From a basketball standpoint, it gave us a chance to blend together and gave people chances to play together who haven't in the past. I really liked the way we came back after being tied or down in the last three games. It's just been an incredible journey. I want to thank everyone who supported us, including the series of speakers we had leading up to the trip, Jim Phillips, and President Schapiro for allowing this to take place."

Northwestern led 12-7 after the first period, but Marghera fought back, taking a 20-17 advantage with 2:17 remaining in the second period. Alex Cohen responded with six straight points to pull the Wildcats to within one with a minute remaining. Freshman Maggie Lyon added five consecutive points to end the half, but Marghera hit two threes to take a 30-28 edge into the locker room.

Douglas single handedly pulled NU back in front, opening the third period on a 6-0 spurt of her own and giving the 'Cats a 34-30 lead just a minute in. In the first four minutes alone, Douglas scored 10 of the Wildcats' 14 points.

The Wildcats extended the lead to 10, 61-51, after the third period and continued to dominate in the final 10 minutes.

    Northwestern out-rebounded Marghera, 33-24.
