EVANSTON, Ill. -- There will be a few new faces on the Northwestern women’s basketball team for the 2014-15 season with a talented group of incoming freshmen joining the squad. A number of the incoming freshmen are already in Evanston this summer, working out with the returning Wildcats.
With the new faces, it’s time to get to know the incoming freshmen that will be on the Welsh-Ryan Arena court next year. Up first is Alexis Glasgow, a 5-11 guard from Arlington Heights, Ill. Alexis had a standout career at Rolling Meadows High School, earning 2014 Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Second Team honors, Associated Press All-State honors and received a number of postseason accolades from the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune. She led Rolling Meadows to a 30-3 record as a senior and trip back to the Class 4A State Championship.

Why did you choose Northwestern?
I chose Northwestern because as a female athlete, I felt that there wasn't much further my athletic abilities could take me after college. I thought it was really important to focus on using my talents to help me get into a great school. Luckily, I get the best of both worlds here: playing in the Big Ten, at the highest level, and attending one of the most prestigious schools in the nation.

Reading, relaxing, trying to get outdoors, hanging out with friends, listening to music
Who’s you favorite professional athlete and why?
LeBron James, because he's so dominantly the best and he knows it. He overcomes a lot.
Favorite sports and why?
If I wasn't a basketball player, I would have loved to play lacrosse early on. I love the physical play and athleticism required to play the game.
What’s something about you that few people know or would be surprised to learn?
I secretly love to be a loner. I love to just explore new places on my own.
What’s the last movie you saw and how was it?

“Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen…It’s always a jam!
What has been your favorite thing about Northwestern so far?
The people. It's crazy that at a place with so many talented athletes and incredibly smart people, there can be so many good people. Everyone is so nice and inviting. I feel part of the community already.
What’s something funny that has happened to you recently?
My first day at agility testing I wiped out in front of the whole team!
What’s a song that describes your personality?
“Count On Me” by Bruno Mars
What motivates you to keep practicing?
Visualizing what I could accomplish with that practice. I think about all the other things in my life I used to be terrible at, but improved on with practice .

In Coach McKeown’s office with my family.
