2013 FIBA U19 World Championships Information • Watch Games on LiveBasketball.TV
LANZAROTE, Canary Islands – Incoming Northwestern freshman Nia Coffey (Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins) is in the midst of a busy summer with the 2013 USA U19 Women’s World Championship Team. The squad began its summer with a training camp in Colorado Springs and this past weekend, won the Lanzarote International Invitational Tournament in the Canary Islands.
Coffey helped guide Team USA to three victories over Australia (71-66), Spain (78-49) and Canada (69-49). She had an efficient 14 minutes off the bench against Spain, scoring five points (including a perfect 3-3 from the free throw line), grabbed four rebounds (three offensive rebounds), had two assists and a steal in the victory.

The three-game exhibition tournament in the Canary Islands served as a test for Team USA as the squad now has its sights set on the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championships, which run July 18-28 in Klaipeda and Panavė×ys, Lithuania. Coffey and her squad open up competition against the host country, Lithuania, on Thursday, July 18. Fans can watch all of the action at the World Championships via webstream on LiveBasketball.TV.
The top three finishing teams from each first-round group will advance to the second round, held July 22-24. The 12 nations qualifying for the second round will be divided into Groups E and F. Each team will play the three new teams in its new group, with all results of games played in the preliminary round carrying over to determine the second-round standings.
Teams finishing in first through fourth places in the second round will qualify for the quarterfinals, with the opportunity to advance to the semifinals and finals. The medal round will be played in Klaipeda, with the quarterfinals held on July 26, semifinals slated for July 27 and the gold medal game on July 28.
