McKeown was challenged by former Northwestern assistant coach and current head coach at Stony Brook University, Caroline McCombs, along with former Wildcat Erin Dickerson, who is an assistant at Illinois State. McKeown decided to issue the challenge to two more with Northwestern ties; NU men’s basketball head coach Chris Collins and NU graduate, Michael Wilbon of ESPN.
Guth’s challengers were Shimmy Gray-Miller of Nebraska, Bart Brooks from DePaul, Kelly Rotan, who worked with Guth at Yale and is now at Air Force, and Eric Thibault of the Washington Mystics. She in turn issued the challenge to Kathy Delaney-Smith from Harvard.
Coffey was challenged by Kelsey Plum, who plays for Washington and was Coffey's teammate on USA Basketball, and issued a challenge to her own teammate, Maggie Lyon. Lyon then passed on the favor to fellow Big Ten guard Melissa Dixon of Iowa and Zahna Medley from TCU.
Fellow Wildcats, including Ashley Deary and Alex Cohen, had the honor of dumping the water on their teammates and coaches. Members of the Northwestern Department of Athletics and Recreation also got in on the fun with representatives from compliance, administration, including NU Senior Women's Administrator Janna Blais, and men’s basketball assistant coaches Armon Gates, Patrick Baldwin and Brian James all helped out.
