EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern sophomore point guard Karly Roser was one of 29 athletes invited to participate in the Canadian Senior Women’s National Team tryouts, which take place May 17-19 in her hometown of Hamilton, Ontario.

Roser has already had a great deal of success with the Canadian National Team as she was a starter and team captain on the U17 squad that finished 11th at the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championships in France. The 5-10 guard averaged 9.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while with the U17 team.

As NU’s floor general the last two seasons, Roser is one of nine current NCAA Division I players invited to the trials, which begin Friday, May 17. She has never missed a game for the Wildcats, starting all 60 games the last two seasons and earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten accolades on 2013 after averaging a career-best 9.4 points, 6.3 assists and 4.9 rebounds per contest.

The first test for the 2013 edition of the team will come in the form of an exhibition series as the SWNT travels to Prague to face the Czech Republic National Team, May 28-29. The team’s preparatory summer tour will span the globe with tournaments in Serbia, France, China and Brazil featuring some of the best teams in the world. The busy summer season will build toward the 2013 FIBA Americas Championships May 21-28 in Xalapa, Mexico, as the team begins its journey to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Roser is one of two Wildcats that will try out for national teams this summer as incoming freshman Nia Coffey (Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins) was recently invited to the trials for the USA Basketball U19 World Team.
