EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern Athletics and the women's basketball program are partnering with Imerman Angels, a one-on-one cancer support organization, as part of the annual Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) Pink Zone national event. The event will take place around the Wildcats' 2 p.m. game vs. Iowa on Feb. 13, 2011 at Welsh-Ryan Arena. All fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of the fight against breast cancer.

"We are really excited to host Imerman Angels as part of the Pink Zone initiative," Head Coach Joe McKeown said. "It's very humbling for Northwestern women's basketball to be involved with the national initiative and to create awareness for all types of cancer that so deeply effect so many people's lives."

Imerman Angels will have a table in the lobby of Welsh-Ryan with information on their organization and will offer matching opportunities for cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers. Northwestern's women's basketball staff will be making a donation to Imerman Angels. Additionally, the first 200 fans will receive a free pink t-shirt compliments of Northwestern women's basketball!
