    Pair of NU Signees Receive WBCA All-America Honors

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- Two Northwestern incoming freshmen, Nia Coffey (Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins) and Christen Inman (Katy, Texas/Seven Lakes), were recently recognized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) with All-America honors.
     
    Coffey, a 6-foot-1 forward, was selected to participate in the 2013 WBCA High School All-America Game while Inman, a 5-foot-9 guard, received WBCA High School All-America honorable mention accolades.
     
    Coffey was one of the nation's top 20 high school senior girls' basketball players selected for the game and the only Big Ten signee. Inman, a 5-foot-9 guard, was one of 20 players honored with 2013 WBCA High School All-America honorable mention accolades.
     
    The 2013 WBCA High School All-America Game takes place Saturday, April 6, at the New Orleans Arena, which is the site of the 2013 NCAA Women's Final Four. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. CT and for the fourth consecutive year, the game will be played on the official NCAA Women’s Final Four court. The 20 players will be divided into two 10-player teams for the game, which will be played according to NCAA rules. 

    Bios on Coffey and Inman are below. Both signed National Letters of Intent to enroll at Northwestern and compete for the women's basketball program beginning in the fall of 2013. Ashley Deary (5-foot-4 guard, Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound) and Allie Tuttle (6-foot-4 forward, Cary, N.C./Panther Creek) round out head coach Joe McKeown's recruiting class.

Two-time All-Lake Conference (2011, 2012) … 2012 Minneapolis Star Tribune All-Metro First Team … 2012 AP All-State … 2012 All-State Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association … Leading scorer and rebounder on state championship squads … Named to the All-Tournament Team following the 2011 and 2012 Minnesota state championships … Two-time section and Lake Conference Champions … 2011 & 2012 Defensive Player of the Year … Two-year captain … 2012 USA Basketball Women’s U-17 invitation only invitee … 2011 USA Basketball Women’s U-16 alternate … Also played a year of volleyball … Ran on the varsity track team as a seventh-grader and competed in the state meet … National Junior Olympics Track silver medalist in the 100 & 200-meter dash … Two-time Distinguished Academic Achievement Award winner.
