    NU Women's Hoops Falls 65-58 at Iowa

    Divjak Notches Second Straight Double-Double

    IOWA CITY, Iowa - Wildcat forward Fristina Divjak notched a team-high 21 points and 10 rebounds, including 4-of-6 three pointers, but Iowa held off a fiesty Northwestern squad, knocking off NU 65-58 Friday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa improves to 7-6 overall, 4-0 Big Ten, while NU is now 5-10, 0-3 in the Big Ten.

    NU cut Iowa's first half lead to one point midway through the period, as Divjak nailed a three pointer from the left baseline to close the gap to 17-16 at the 10:09 mark. The Hawkeyes went on a 16-3 run over the next 4:20 to lead 33-19, and held a 37-29 lead at intermission.

    The two teams battled even throughout the second half, with NU closing the gap to four points at 59-55 with 1:45 left in the game. Iowa held on for the seven point win.

    Iowa's Tangela Smith led all scorers with 26 points and 16 rebounds. NU freshman Clarissa Flores, making her first collegiate start, had 11 points and career bests of five rebounds and four assists.
