    Northwestern Defeats Clemson 70-66

    'Cats Advance to Semifinals of Preseason NIT

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- Led by Kristina Divjak's 30 points, on 9-of-17 shooting, the Northwestern Wildcats came away with a 70-66 victory against the Clemson Lady Tigers on Sunday at Welsh-Ryan Arena. NU point guard Amber DeWall scored 11 points had team-highs of seven rebounds and eight assists in the win.

    Free-throw shooting was a major factor in the game. Northwestern took 35 free throws, making 23, while only Clemson was only able to garner eight points off of 12 free throws. NU sophomore forward Leah Berki came off the bench for the 'Cats with with six rebounds. Clemson's high scorer was guard Amy Geren with 20 points, including five three pointers.

    Northwestern, now 2-0 on the season, will play sixth-ranked Connecticut in Storrs, Conn., on Thur., Nov. 20, at 8:30 p.m. EST in the semifinals of the Preseason WNIT.
