    Experience:
    Fourth Season

Jim Sexton enters his fourth season as assistant coach under Beth Combs. Sexton's duties include recruiting coordinator, and booster councils.

As a mentor for over 25 years, Sexton was the head coach at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Ill., for 15 years before being named an assistant coach at the United States Naval Academy from 1996-2000.

At Blackburn, Sexton was a three-time conference Coach of the Year and in 1992-93, he was named the Illinois Coaches Association's Division III Coach of the Year.

With Sexton running the defense at Navy, the team placed first in scoring defense, field goal percentage (defense) and rebounding during the 1999-2000 season. Navy tied for the Patriot League championship in 1997-98 and compiled a 67-46 overall record with Sexton on staff.

Following his successful years at the US Naval Academy, Sexton took his winning ways to Lehigh as an assistant coach. In the 2003-04 campaign, the Mountain Hawks tied for second place in the Patriot League, while also tying a school record for league wins. A year earlier, the Lehigh's defense was second in the league in rebounding.

Sexton is a 1977 graduate of Blackburn College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education. He also earned a master's in physical education from Southern Illinois in 1986.

"Coach Sexton has distinguished himself as one of the best recruiting coordinators in this league," Combs said. "He has canvassed the country to know all there is to know about recruiting the best players. He is the reason we continue to bring in recruiting classes that are nationally-ranked."
