Formerly an assistant at Lehigh University for two seasons with current NU assistant Jim Sexton, Brown oversaw Lehigh's guards as well as assisting with recruiting and the team's strength and conditioning.

Brown is originally from West Palm Beach, Fla., and was raised in Denver, Colo. A 1990 graduate of the University of Michigan, she was an All-Big Ten selection and still ranks in the school's top 20 in scoring average, steals and assists. She earned her bachelor's degree in kinesiology as well as her master's in exercise physiology in 1992.

"Coach Brown has proven herself as one of the best assistants in the country," Combs said. "Whether she is on the road recruiting or working with our players, she is the epitome of excellence. Coach Brown is the reason we will be successful. Northwestern, our program and I are fortunate to have her."
