EVANSTON, Ill. -- Jennifer Kiefer has been named assistant women's basketball coach at Northwestern University, as announced today by 14th-year head coach Don Perrelli. She also ranks among UM's top 10 all-time in assists (sixth, 288), free throw percentage (seventh, .734) and steals (10th, 95).

This marks a return home for Kiefer, who hails from nearby Carol Stream, Ill., and attended Elgin High School. Current Northwestern sophomore forward Leslie Schock was a freshman at Elgin High School during Kiefer's senior year.

Kiefer graduated from the University of Michigan in 1997 with a bachelor of arts in sports management and communications.
