EVANSTON, Ill. – Tournament action continues for No. 17 Northwestern as the Wildcats head east to Philadelphia, Pa., for the Keystone Classic. Northwestern is one of 11 teams competing in the classic that begins at 9 a.m. CT inside The Palestra.
Northwestern will have 17 wrestlers in attendance including Levi Mele, Jameson Oster, John Coukos, Colin Shober, Pat Greco, David Helmer, Kaleb Friedley, Dylan Marriott, Pierce Harger, Kevin Bialka, Lee Munster, Robert Kellogg, Marcus Shrewsbury, Alex Polizzi, John Schoen, Mike McMullan and Ben Kuhar.
Sunday’s tournament includes a number of ranked wrestlers from other teams. Here’s a complete list with InterMat rankings:

Welch Competes in NWCA All-Star Classic
Junior Jason Welch will represent Northwestern at the 46th annual NWCA All-Star Classic in Tempe, Ariz., Monday. Welch, who is currently ranked No. 3 in the latest InterMat poll, will meet American’s No. 4 Granbayar Sanjaa in the 157 lbs. bout.
Now in its 46th year, the NWCA All-Star Classic traditionally features the top wrestlers in each weight class. The exhibition match does not count in the overall season record.
Welch is the 11th Wildcat in school history to wrestle at the classic and first since 2007 when Dustin Fox, Ryan Lang and Mike Tamillow competed in Dallas. Other past participants include: Russ Schneider (1968, 160 lbs.), Mark Massery (1971, 126 lbs.), Al Marzano (1978, 190 lbs.), Tom Janicik (1981, 158 lbs.), Mike Funk (1991, 190), Sam Neider (1999, 197) and Jake Herbert (2005, 2006, 184 lbs.).
NU Finishes Second at 2010 Keystone Classic
Northwestern wrestled at the Keystone Classic last season and brought home runner-up honors as then-seniors Brandon Precin (125) and Andrew Nadhir (149) each won their respective weight classes. The Wildcats nearly won the title with 138.0 team points, finishing just 5.5 points behind champion and host Pennsylvania.
Current Wildcats Kaleb Friedley (141), John Schoen (197), Levi Mele (133) and Jason Welch (157) along with then-senior Aaron Jones (184) all placed third last year.

Last Time Out
The Wildcats wrestled in their first tournament of the season last weekend at the Michigan State Open. Junior Levi Mele placed first at 125 lbs. title, posting a perfect 5-0 record and pinning three opponents en route to his title. Pierce Harger (second, 165), Lee Munster (second, 174), Kevin Bialka (fourth, 165), Alex Polizzi (fourth, 197), John Schoen (197) and Colin Shober (sixth, 141) also placed for Northwestern.
As a team, Northwestern ranks 17th in the latest NWCA/USA Today Coaches Poll that was released on Nov. 16. Individually, Levi Mele (No. 12, 125), Kaleb Friedley (No. 24, 149), Jason Welch (No. 3, 157), Lee Munster (No. 17, 174), Alex Polizzi (No. 18, 197) and Mike McMullan (No. 19, heavyweight) are ranked in the latest D1collegewrestling.net poll.
