Tsirtsis earned a spot on the U.S. Junior World Team after winning two matches and advancing at the 2013 ASICS U.S. Junior World Team Trials on June 23 in Stillwater, Okla.

Tsirtsis redshirted the 2012-13 season and had an impressive first year, compiling an 18-3 record while wrestling unattached. He won three of the four tournaments he participated in and placed eighth in a highly-competitive Midlands field at 141 lbs. Prior to joining Northwestern, Tsirtsis was a four-time state champion at Crown Point High School, becoming just the eighth wrestler in Indiana state history to win four titles.
