    2014-15 Northwestern Wrestling Schedule

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head coach Drew Pariano unveiled the 2014-15 wrestling schedule today, which includes a mix of strong dual opponents along with competitive tournaments. NU fans will have plenty of opportunities to see the 'Cats take on some of the top collegiate wrestling teams in the country with eight home events scheduled at Welsh-Ryan Arena this year.

"Our schedule again will be one of the most competitive in the nation and it will prepare us to win Big Ten and NCAA titles," Pariano said. "Adding a storied program like Lehigh to the home schedule is exciting for our fans in the greater Chicago area. We are also looking forward to hosting the Windy City Duals on Dec. 6 and this is a chance for fans to see six Division I programs all in one day, which will serve as a great preview for the 52nd Midlands Championships. We also welcome Maryland and Rutgers to the Big Ten and we're fortunate enough to host them in Welsh-Ryan Arena this year."

The 2014-15 season gets underway with a busy November that includes two tournaments and multiple duals. Northwestern will open the season on the road, traveling to Palo Alto, Calif., on Nov. 8 to take on Stanford in a tough nonconference dual. The following weekend, the Wildcats will be busy in Ypsilanti, Mich., with the EMU Open and EMU Duals, both of which are hosted by Eastern Michigan. A number of NU wrestlers will compete in the open tournament and the squad will face Clarion, Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan in dual action.

NU then heads east, returning to the Keystone Classic in Philadelphia, Pa., on Nov. 23, an event the Wildcats have placed in the top three at in each of the last three seasons, including back-to-back team titles in 2011 and 2012. The 2014-15 home opener takes place Nov. 30 when nonconference foe Lehigh visits Welsh-Ryan Arena.

NU will get comfortable in Evanston during the month of December hosting the Windy City Duals on Dec. 6 and the 52nd Ken Kraft Midlands Championships Dec. 29-30. In between, the Wildcats will visit Minnesota on Dec. 18 for the Big Ten Conference opener.

There will be three mats of action during the Windy City Duals, as five teams will visit Evanston for the day-long event. Northwestern will face Cal Poly at 11 a.m., Drexel at 1 p.m., Davidson at 3 p.m., Princeton at 5 p.m., and Eastern Michigan also will participate in the duals.

Some of the top collegiate wrestling teams in the country will once again travel to Welsh-Ryan Arena a few weeks later for Midlands. A full list of participating teams will be released at a later date.

The Wildcats stay at home to start the new year, hosting Wisconsin on Jan. 9 and then hit the road for three consecutive duals. NU will visit Purdue on Jan. 16 and then travel to Bloomington to face Indiana on Jan. 18. The final road Big Ten dual of the season takes the Wildcats to Iowa on Jan. 23.

Four straight Big Ten duals at Welsh-Ryan Arena are up next with the Wildcats welcoming in-state rival Illinois on Jan. 25, Nebraska on Jan. 30 along with conference newcomers Rutgers on Feb. 8 and Maryland on Feb. 13. The dual slate then wraps up on the road with NU visiting Washington, D.C. for a match against the home team, American, and another test vs. George Mason.

Ohio State hosts the 2015 edition of the Big Ten Championships from March 7-8 and the 2015 NCAA Championships return to St. Louis, March 19-21.
