EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head wrestling coach Tim Cysewski announced today the signing of Jason Erwinski (Tinley Park, Ill./Mount Carmel) and Matthew Huebner (Woodstock, Ill./Woodstock) to National Letters of Intent. They will compete for the Wildcats beginning in the fall of 1998.

Jason Erwinski is the 1998 Illinois state champion at 145 pounds. He is currently ranked eighth in the nation at 145 pounds by Intermat and is expected to compete at 160 pounds next year. "Jason is tough and really wants to win," said Cysewski. "With his work ethic, on and off the mat, he is a good fit to our team."

Matthew Huebner is the 1998 Illinois state champion at 189 pounds. He has been ranked in the top 10 in that class by Amateur Wrestling News, WIN Magazine and Intermat. Huebner is expected to wrestle at 190 pounds for the Wildcats. "Matt really works hard and excels at everything he does," said Cysewski. "He has lots of athletic and academic potential at Northwestern."

Erwinski and Huebner join John Giacche (Flemington, N.J./Blair Academy) and Josh Saul (Del Mar, Calif./Calvary Chapel) to form Northwestern's 1998 wrestling recruiting class.
