EVANSTON, Ill. -- Following a two-match road trip to begin the Big Ten dual season, the Wildcats are set to host the Wisconsin Badgers in their Big Ten home opener, Friday at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Northwestern and Wisconsin are tied for ninth in the latest rankings. The 'Cats will host their first dual at Welsh-Ryan since the NU duals on Nov. 12.
Last Time Out...
Wrestling without the top-ranked and injured Ryan Lang (North Royalton, Ohio/St. Edward), the Wildcats fell to Illinois and Iowa in their first two duals of Big Ten season. Junior Dustin Fox (Galion, Ohio/Galion) took the first match of the night, but the eighth-ranked Wildcats fell to the 16th-ranked Illini Friday in their Big Ten opener, 21-13. Illinois took the next six matches to take a commanding 21-3 advantage heading into the final three matches. Top-ranked Jake Herbert (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) won his 100th match at Northwestern by major decision. Mike Tamillow (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) and Fox won the first two matches, but the fifth-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes took the next seven to defeat the eighth-ranked Wildcats, 24-14, Sunday afternoon at Rolling Meadows High School.

Quoting Coach Cysewski
"Not having Ryan (Lang) these past couple of weeks has been tough," head coach Tim Cysewski said. "We are a top four or five team with him in the line up. Looking to Friday, Wisconsin is a very solid dual meet team. They are very strong this season, hence their No. 9 ranking."
Passing a Milestone
Top-ranked 184-pounder Jake Herbert picked up his 100th career win with an 11-3 major decision over Illinois' 15th-ranked John Dergo. Herbert sits alone in 10th place on Northwestern's all-time wins list. He is 55 behind Jack Griffin's mark of 156.
