    Three Wildcats Advance at NCAA Wrestling Championships

    Schatzman, Bybee and Neider find success in Cleveland.

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- Scott Schatzman, Mark Bybee and Sam Neider all remain in contention following Friday morning's session at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Cleveland. NU currently stands in 24th place as a team with 16.00 points.

    Schatzman, seeded fifth at 134 pounds, fell in the quarterfinals to fourth-seeded Dustin DeNunzio of Harvard, 7-4. Schatzman will take on Pittsburgh's Chad Jesko in the wrestlebacks on Friday night.

    Bybee, the sixth seed at 167 pounds, dropped an 8-5 decision to third-seeded Brandon Slay in the quarterfinals. He will face Edinboro's Kevin Welsh in the wrestlebacks.

    Neider, the seventh seed at 190 pounds, lost in the quarterfinals to second-seeded Tim Hartung of Minnesota, 12-4. He will face Bloomsburg's Todd Hockenbroch in the wrestlebacks. 150-pounder Drew Pariano was eliminated on Friday morning in the wrestebacks by Oklahoma's Rodney Jones, 6-4.
