    Northwestern Wrestlers Open Dual Meet Season With 20-18 Win at #21 Ohio State

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern wrestling team got the dual meet season started on the right foot with a 20-18 Big Ten win over #21 Ohio State Saturday afternoon in Columbus. NU, ranked 15th in this week's National Wrestling Coaches Association poll, won six of the ten matches.

    Dominic Caruso got things going at 118 pounds as he defeated Matt Fratta, 2-0. Junior Scott Schatzman won a majority decision at 134 pounds, sophomore Malik Elliott scratched out a tight 3-2 win at 142 pounds and junior Drew Pariano followed with another 3-2 win to give NU a commanding 14-3 lead midway through the match. Seniors Mark Bybee, at 167 pounds, and Sam Neider, 190 pounds, each added a decision win to seal the match for NU.

    NU is in action again today as they travel to Clarion, Pa. to take part in the Clarion Duals. NU then returns home to host the 35th annual Midlands Wrestling tournament on Dec. 29-30.
