    Northwestern Wrestlers Fare Well at Northern Open

    MADISON, Wisc. - Northwestern travelled to Madison, Wis. on Friday to take part in the Northern Open and came away satisfied as six grapplers placed, including one winner.

    Junior Scott Schatzman, a winner at 134 pounds at the Michigan State Open two weeks ago, took his second tournament title of the season in as many tries with a 4-1 win over Troy Marr of Marquette in the final. Steve Bucciero, in his finest showing as a Wildcat, grabbed runner-up honors at 158 pounds. Dominic Caruso was third at 118 pounds and Malik Elliott fifth at 142. Also placing for NU was Mark Bybee, who was fifth at 167 pounds and Joel Goeden, sixth at 177 pounds.

    NU is in action next on Dec. 13 when they travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on the Buckeyes of Ohio State in their first dual meet competition of the year. The 'Cats open up the home schedule as they host the 35th annual Midlands Championships, Dec. 29-30, in Welsh-Ryan Arena.
