Northwestern Wrestling Signs Three to Letters of Intent

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head wrestling coach Tim Cysewski announced today the signing of three wrestlers to national letters of intent to wrestle at NU beginning in the 1998-99 school year: Joshua Saul (Del Mar, Calif./Calvary Chapel), John Giacche (Flemington, N.J./Blair Academy) and Robert Potashnick (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway Central).

Saul, one of the top heavyweights in California, finished third in the state as a junior last year. In addition, Calvary Chapel high school won the national high school championship last year. His father, Rich, was an all-pro football player with the Los Angeles Rams.

Giacche, a 126-pounder, is a three-time national prep champion and finished fifth at the junior national championships last summer. He is ranked in the top 10 in his weight class nationally and his high school team has finished in the top three nationally all four years.

Potashnick, who hails from the same high school as current Wildcat All-American Scott Schatzman, is a three-time all-state selection at 118 pounds. He is one of the top contenders for the state title this year.
