MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Northwestern's run in ITA Midwest Regional Championships ended Sunday at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis. Seniors Christian Tempke (Wentorf, Germany/Gymnasium LohbrÜgge) and Willy Lock (Lima, Peru/Markham College) lost their second round singles matches and Lock, playing doubles with senior Matt Christian (Troy, Mich./Brother Rice), fell in the round of 16.
In singles, Western Michigan's Brady Crosby defeated Lock, 6-3, 6-2 and Drew Eberly of Ohio State downed Tempke, 6-2, 6-2. Tempke overcame a rolled ankle to win his first round match in three sets.
Christian and Lock, who played together for the first time at the ITA All-American Championships and gained momentum from a run through the qualifying draw and into the second round of the main draw, fell Sunday to Marquette's Brinkley and Rutherford in the round of 16, 8-6.
The 'Cats have a week off before returning to action Nov. 10 at the Big Ten Singles Championships hosted by the University of Michigan.
