TULSA, Okla. -- Seniors Willy Lock (Lima, Peru/Markham College) and Matt Christian (Troy, Mich./Brother Rice) advanced to the third round of the qualifying draw at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships Tuesday. They defeated teams from TCU and BYU in the first two rounds.

The duo defeated TCU's Andrew Ulrich and Stuart Row in the first round, 8-5. They returned to the court later Tuesday afternoon and topped Christian Hand and Jonathan Sanchez from BYU, 8-6.

"Willy and Matt played great," assistant coach Nick Carless said. "They played with enthusiasm and excitement. They want to try to keep it rolling tomorrow."

Lock, who advanced to the second round of the singles qualifying draw, fell earlier in the day to Nick Rinks of Michigan State, 7-6 (8-6), 1-6, 6-3.

"Willy played well, but ran into a very talented player. Carless said. "It was a three-set battle that lasted three hours."

Senior Christian Tempke (Wentorf, Germany/Gymnasium LohbrÜgge), who entered the week as first alternate for the main singles draw, received placement into the bracket and will play his first round match on Thursday.

Lock and Christian return to the court Wednesday at 1 p.m. to face Denver's Adam Holmstrom and Niklas Persson for a spot in the main doubles draw.
