    Wildcats Open Fall Season at ITA All-American Championship

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- To open the 2013-14 season, four members of Northwestern men's tennis travel to Tulsa, Okla., this weekend to compete in the ITA-All American Championships. Sophomore Mihir Kumar, junior Alex Pasareanu, and freshmen Konrad Zieba and Sam Shropshire will compete in the prequalifying singles round beginning this Saturday.

    In the first match, Pasareanu will face Saxon Buehning from the University of Alabama, and Shropshire will play Ettore Zito (19) of Middle Tennessee. Zieba will go against Clement Homs of the University of Texas, and Kumar will face Elliott Yee from Indiana University.

    Last year, now-graduated Spencer Wolf won three matches in prequalifying to reach the main draw, before falling in the opening match.

    Zieba and Shropshire are two members of the 2013 recruiting class, which was ranked No. 8 nationally by With such young talent and replacing three seniors, the Wildcats are looking to start the 2013-14 season well coming off of last year's impressive 22-10 record.
