    2012 NCAA Tournament Bracket

EVANSTON, Ill.-- Northwestern has secured one of 31 at-large bids to join the field of 64 for the 2012 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship. The Wildcats will head to Durham, N.C. where they will face the LSU Tigers in the first round May 12 at 8 a.m. Central time.

Joining the Wildcats and Tigers in their pod are the 8th-seeded Duke Blue Devils and George Washington. The winners of the two matches on May 12 will advance to a second-round showdown on Sunday, May 13 at 1 p.m. CT.

The Wildcats are headed back to postseason play for the first time since 2009. Head coach Arvid Swan'ssquad put together a memorable campaign that featured a pair of five-match winning streaks and seven wins in Big Ten play. That is the best total for any Northwestern men's tennis team since 2001.

"This is a very special moment for our program," said Swan upon learning that his team would be in the tournament. "Our senior class went as freshmen and they have worked through all of the up and downs to help lead us back where we want to be.

"When our team has been completely healthy this season, we showed what we can be capable of," added Swan. "The guys are all excited to jump back on the courts and get ready for this next stage of our season."

Once the 64-team field is narrowed to 16, the remaining participants on both the women's and men's sides will travel to the University of Gerogia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. to play out the rest of the tournament. The entire bracket is available at the top of this page.

The fields for both the singles and doubles tournaments will be revealed on Wednesday, May 2.
