2012 Big Ten Men's Tennis Tournament Central
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's Department of Athletics and Recreation and the Wildcat men's tennis team will welcome 11 foes from around the conference to the shores of Lake Michigan, April 26-29, for the 2012 Big Ten Men's Tennis Tournament at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center. It is the first time since 2003 that the 'Cats will host the prestigious event.
The Big Ten Tournament begins Thursday, April 26 with a quartet of matches on the courts. At 9:30 a.m., the No. 8 seed will take on the No. 9 seed, while the No. 5 seed battles the 12th seed. Later in the day, No. 7 will play No. 10 and No. 6 faces No. 11 at 1:30 p.m. The top four seeds in the tournament will each receive a bye into the quarterfinal round.
Two quarterfinal matches are slated to commence Friday, April 27 at Vandy Christie at 9:30 a.m. The final two quarterfinal tilts are slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. Both the north and south courts at the picturesque facility will be utilized during the first two days of the tournament.
Saturday's two semifinal matches will take place on the south courts. The first clash will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the second set to follow at approximately 1:30 p.m.
The 2012 Big Ten Tournament championship match will be decided Sunday, April 29 at noon on the south courts.
If the, throughout the course of play, inclement weather forces play to be moved indoors to the Combe Tennis Center, then the tournament schedule will be altered.
