EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern welcomes a trio of opponents to the Combe Tennis Center this weekend, facing off against No. 40 Vanderbilt, Harvard and Valparaiso.

The Wildcats open up against Vanderbilt at 3 p.m. Friday before Saturday's doubleheader against Harvard at 1 p.m. and Valparaiso at 7:30 p.m.

NU (8-1) is coming off a successful weekend that saw it notch a pair of road wins, defeating No. 35 NC State 4-3 and William & Mary 7-0.

The Wildcats captured the doubles point against the Wolfpack and got victories Spencer Wolf, Raleigh Smith and Alex Pasareanu in singles play. Northwestern then pulled out four three-set wins in singles against the Tribe in a match that was closer than the final team score.

Vanderbilt (4-2) has wins over Butler, Minnesota, Middle Tennessee State and Tulane to its credit this season while dropping matches to Michigan State and Georgia. The Commodores' lineup features a trio of ranked singles players in No. 17 Ryan Lipman, No. 20 Gonzales Austin and No. 114 Kris Yee.

Harvard (2-3) defeated Notre Dame and St. John's but has dropped matches to Oklahoma, Alabama and Old Dominion. The Crimson posted a 23-3 record a year ago and defeated Virginia Tech in the opening round before falling to 12th-seeded Florida.

Valparaiso (4-1) has notched victories over Western Illinois, Grace, Chicago State and Dayton this season while its lone loss is to Northern Illinois. The Crusaders posted an 8-14 record a year ago. Valpo's eight-man roster features six freshmen.
