EVANSTON, Ill. - Fresh off victories over a pair of ranked opponents, Northwestern's men's tennis team heads to Durham, N.C., to compete in the opening rounds of the ITA Indoor Team Championships on Friday and Saturday.

The Wildcats are off to a 5-0 start to their duel meet season, including posting wins over then-No. 34 Louisville and Chicago State on Sunday and at No. 30 Notre Dame on Tuesday.

Senior Chris Jackman was tabbed the Big Ten Player of the Week after clinching the win over the Fighting Irish with a victory over No. 120 Wyatt McCoy, rallying from a set down to post a 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 win. Jackman also won his other two matches last week, dropping a total of just five games.

NU, ranked No. 37 this week, opens competition in Durham by squaring off against No. 43 Virginia Tech (2-0) at 1 p.m. CT. The Hokies' roster features a pair of ranked players in No. 29 Andreas Bjerrehus and No. 59 Amerigo Contini. Raleigh Smith is ranked No. 108 for the Wildcats.

In the opening match of the day, host and fifth-ranked Duke (3-0) takes on No. 46 Middle Tennessee State (2-0).

The consolation match on Saturday is slated for 8 a.m. CT, while the winners match up at 5 p.m. The victor advances to a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, slated for Feb. 15-18 in Seattle, Wash.
