    EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern senior Chris Jackman (Key Biscayne, Fla./Gulliver Prep) has been honored as the Big Ten Men's Tennis Player of the Week the conference office announced Wednesday.

    It is the first such honor of his career. Jackman was a perfect 3-0 in singles competition as Northwestern won all three of its duel matches, including two over ranked teams.

    In the Wildcats' victory over then-No. 34 Louisville on Sunday, he cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Luis Elizondo at No. 5 singles before easing past Chicago State's Rashley Yermia 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 later that evening.

    Jackman then clinched Northwestern's victory in a 4-3 win at No. 30 Notre Dame on Tuesday. With NU holding a 3-2 match lead and the remaining two singles matches in a third set, he pulled off a comeback win over 120th-ranked Wyatt McCoy at No. 5 by a score of 3-6, 6-0, 6-4.

    Northwestern (5-0) is ranked No. 34 in the current ITA team rankings and heads to Durham, N.C., to participate in the opening rounds of the ITA Indoor Team Championships. The Wildcats open play against Virginia Tech at 1 p.m. Central time Friday.
