Men's Tennis Defeats Wisconsin
EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Wildcat men's tennis team, ranked No. 28 nationally, defeated Wisconsin 4-3 at the Johnson Tennis Center. NU swept all three doubles matches en route to 15th win on the year. In his final match at Northwestern, senior Alex Witt, ranked 17th in the nation, lost to Mark Loughrin 6-2, 6-4. Fellow senior Ry Tarpley, playing at the No. 3 spot, defeated David Chang 6-1, 7-5. In No. 2 singles, junior Marc Silva, ranked 22nd nationally, beat John Thomsen 6-3, 6-0. Doug Bohaboy, 82nd nationally and playing in the No. 4 spot, defeated Jeff Malik 6-4, 6-1. Sophomore Martin Bengtsson lost in No. 5 singles to Stefan Reist 7-6 (16), 6-3. Freshman Derrick Nguyen lost a slugfest against Adam Schumacher 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
All of Northwestern's doubles teams won their matches 8-6.
