Wildcats Topple Michigan, 5-2
EVANSTON, Ill. - The Wildcat men's tennis team, ranked No. 24
nationally, handed the University of Michigan its first conference loss
with a 5-2 victory.
At No. 1 singles, Alex Witt came from down a break in each set to hold off
David Paradzik, 6-4, 7-6 (3). Witt teamed with junior Doug Bohaboy in
doubles to defeat Arvid Swan and Brook Blain, 8-6.
Marc Silva had the easiest match of the day, defeating Matt Wright, 6-2,
6-3 at the No. 2 singles spot. Freshman Derrick Ngyuen defeated John Long,
6-4, 6-4 at No. 6 sinlges, while No. 4 Ry Tarpley broke and then held
second set five all to defeat Will Farait, 6-3, 7-5.
The Wildcat's No. 2 and 3 doubles teams easily defeated Michigan. NU is now
12-4 overall and 5-2 in Big Ten action.
