    Northwestern Men's Tennis Defeats the Clemson Tigers

    The Wildcat men's tennis team, ranked No. 21 nationally, defeated the Clemson Tigers 6-1 at the Johnson Tennis Center on Friday night. NU swept all three doubles matches en route to victory.

    Seniors Alex Witt and Ry Tarpley, juniors Marc Silva and Doug Bohaboy and sophomore Martin Bengtsson won five of the six singles matches.

    Ranked No. 15 in the country and playing at the No. 1 spot, Witt defeated Bruce Li 7-6 (1), 6-3. Silva, who is ranked No. 45 and at No. 2, took a 6-3, 6-3 decision from Pablo Bellagamba.

    At No. 3, Bohaboy defeated Josh Goffi 6-7 (0), 6-1, 6-2, while No. 4 Tarpley finished off Bradley Emendorfer 7-6, 7-5. Bengtsson, playing at No. 5, won after splitting the match 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 with Darren Knight.

    The No. 1 doubles team of Witt and Bengtsson downed Emendorfer and Bellagamba, 8-5. At No. 2, Bohaboy and Silva defeated Li and Knight, 8-1, while Tarpley and freshman Derrick Nguyen won over Goffi an d Sandon Barth, 9-8.
