    Alex Witt Upsets No. 1 Seed at Reebok/ITA All-American Championships

    AUSTIN, Texas - Northwestern senior Alex Witt upset top-seeded John Roddick of Georgia 6-3, 6-4 in today's second round of the Reebok/ITA All-American Championships at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin, Texas. Witt, a native of Houston, Texas, did not lose serve to Roddick, who is ranked No. 4 in the preseason Rolex Collegiate Rankings. Witt, currently ranked No. 64, defeated Alabama's Chris Lopez in Thursday's first round, 6-1, 7-5. He will face unseeded Vince Allegre of UCLA in Friday's third round.

    Wildcat junior Marc Silva also advanced to the second round of the Championships. He defeated Georgia's Gonzalo Corrales in the first round, 6-3, 6-4. Silva's second-round match against Francisco Rodriguez remained in progress late Thursday night and will be available on NUSPORTS.COM on Friday.
