EAST LANSING, Mich. - Two of Northwestern's three doubles teams advanced to the round of 32 at the ITA Midwest Regionals hosted by Michigan State University on Friday.

Spencer Wolf and Raleigh Smith are the third-seeded duo in the draw, but they were pushed to the limit in their opening match of the tournament. The Wildcat pair held on for a 9-8 (3) victory over the Toledo team of Tomas Stillman/Nicholas Wong.

Mihir Kumar and Alex Pasareanu had no trouble with the team of Francisco Stuardo/Ben Brocker from Toledo, rolling to an 8-1 win.

The pairing of Chris Jackman and Fedor Baev came up short in its opening-round match, falling to the Illinois State duo of Alexander Pelaez/Erik Brunskog.

    Action continues on Saturday.
