EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Wildcats have finished play on day two of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic (MTC), receiving large contributions from freshman Spencer Wolf (Coral Springs, Fla./Laurel Springs) and Sidarth Balaji (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax). Wolf defeated Ball State's Dalton Albertin 6-3, 6-2 to earn his first collegiate victory. Showing his ability to handle adversity, Balaji came back to beat the Cardinal's Zane Smith 1-6, 6-2 (10-6).

Although no other `Cat was able to scratch out a singles victory, Alex Sanborn (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid), and Andrew McCarthy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) each pushed their matches to a third set. Northwestern will look for revenge when they take on Ball State in doubles tomorrow at 11 a.m.

In their doubles matches today, Big Ten rival Wisconsin was able to take two of three matches from the `Cats. Chris Jackman (Key Biscayne, Fla./Gulliver Prep) and Eric Spector (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) worked an 8-4 victory against the Badgers Varun Chari and Luke Rassow-Kantor.

Play resumes Sunday at 9 a.m. Northwestern wraps up play at the MTC as they take on the host school, Marquette, in singles at 1 p.m.
