    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- No. 1 seed Ohio State put an end to Northwestern's run at the 2010 Big Ten Tournament Friday morning at IU Tennis Center. The Wildcats were unable to upset the nation's fourth-ranked team, finishing the 2009-10 campaign with double digit wins for the second consecutive season.

    "Ohio State is one of the top teams in the country and they showed it today," said head coach Arvid Swan. "I'm proud of our guys and the way they fought both yesterday and today."

    The Buckeyes had a quick start in doubles with the tandem of Matt Allare and Shuhei Izawa winning an 8-0 decision over NU's Tobias Reitz (Reinbeck, Germany/Sachsenwaldschule Reinbeck) and Alex Sanborn (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid) at the No. 2 spot.

    No. 1 was a hotly-contested affair between the 15th-ranked doubles team of Chase Buchanan and Dino Marcan taking on Joshua Graves (Milwaukee, Wis./Nicolet) and Spencer Wolf (Coral Springs, Fla./Laurel Springs). It came down to the end, but the Buckeyes came away with a 9-7 win to take the doubles point, giving OSU a 1-0 lead.

    No. 3 doubles between the duo of Sidarth Balaji (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) and Andrew McCarthy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) and the Buckeyes' Justin Kronauge and Balazs Novak was left unfinished, with OSU leading 7-6.

    The Buckeyes carried their momentum into singles, winning three matches in straight sets to seal the match.

    First at No. 5, Matt Allare defeated Alex Sanborn, 6-2, 6-1 to build upon the the OSU lead.

    31st-ranked senior Justin Kronauge, an All-Big Ten honoree, played a tough match at No. 2 singles, taking out NU freshman Balaji in straight sets.

    The clincher came at No. 4, where Balazs Novak defeated Andrew McCarthy, 6-2, 6-2 to complete the victory.

    Three matches were left unfinished because the dual was clinched, with the Buckeyes up a set in all three.
