BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Victories at the No. 1 and 3 singles spots by junior Joshua Graves and sophomore Spencer Wolf, respectively, were not enough to lift No. 72 Northwestern to an upset victory of Big Ten leader and 23rd-ranked Indiana as the Wildcats fell, 5-2.

Indiana fought its way to a sweep of doubles play, including a tough 8-5 win by the 62nd-ranked pair of Santiago Gruter and Jeremy Langer over NU's No. 1 tandem of Graves and Wolf.

The Hoosiers went on to clinch a dual win on their Senior Day by winning the first four singles decisions off the courts. Northwestern sophomore Raleigh Smith suffered a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Isade Juneau at No. 4 while junior Tobias Reitz surrendered a 6-3, 6-2 outcome to Stephen Vogl.

Two more wins at No. 6 and No. 4 singles put the match out of reach for Northwestern, but the Wildcats continued to fight. Graves, currently ranked No. 125 in the Campbell's/ITA College Tennis poll, led Jeremy Langer a set and 4-3 before Langer opted to retire with the dual match decided.

Wolf went the distance against a ranked opponent in No. 114 Josh MacTaggart, edging MacTaggart in the third-set super tiebreaker 10-7 after the splitting the first two sets, 3-6, 6-1. It was Wolf's 10th singles victory of the dual season.

Northwestern will look to score its third Big Ten win in its final regular-season road match when it takes on Purdue at 11 a.m. Sunday in West Lafayette.
