    MINNEAPOLIS - No. 26 Northwestern picked up a trio of singles wins but it wasn't enough as the Wildcats fell to No. 47 Minnesota 4-3 Friday evening at Baseline Tennis Center.

    The Golden Gophers jumped out in front as they took the doubles point by getting wins at the Nos. 1 and 3 positions. The duo of Mihir Kumar and Spencer Wolf did pick up an 8-5 win at No. 2 for NU, but it wasn't enough.

    The hosts increased their lead to 2-0 with a victory at No. 4, but Chris Jackman got the Wildcats on the board as he cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ruben Weber at No. 6.

    Northwestern also got a straight-sets win at No. 5 as Alex Pasareanu took down reigning Big Ten Player of the Week 7-6, 6-2. However, Minnesota clinched the match with victories at the Nos. 1 and 2 spots.

    The 'Cats got one final victory at No. 3 where Sidarth Balaji was awarded a win when Jack Hamburg retired with the two players tied at a set apiece and 3-3 in the third set.

    Northwestern returns to action at noon Sunday as it travels to Madison to face 70th-ranked Wisconsin.
