SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Senior Chris Jackman pulled off a three-set win at No. 5 singles, giving No. 37 Northwestern a 4-3 victory over No. 30 Notre Dame at Eck Tennis Pavilion Tuesday evening.

With the Wildcats holding a precarious 3-2 lead and two matches remaining that were up for grabs, Jackman rallied back to earn a three-set upset victory over No. 120 Wyatt McCoy by a score of 3-6, 6-0, 6-4.

Northwestern got the night off to a good start as it won a pair of tight matches at No. 2 and 3 to earn the doubles point. The duo of Sidarth Balaji and Raleigh Smith posted an 8-5 win over Billy Pecor and Alex Lawson at No. 2 before Alex Pasareanu and Mihir Kumar notched an 8-6 win over Ryan Bandy and Matt Dooley at No. 3.

Notre Dame evened the match with a straight-sets victory at No. 6 singles before Balaji downed Quentin Monaghan 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3. Pasareanu rallied back to pull off a hard-fought upset win at No. 4 as he outlasted 88th-ranked Pecor 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Smith, ranked No. 108, was narrowly edged 7-5, 7-5 by 110th-ranked Blas Moros at No. 2, bringing the Fighting Irish within 3-2.

However, Jackman gutted out the of three-set comeback win to clinch the win for the 'Cats and improve them to 5-0 on the season.

Northwestern returns to action Friday as it opens play at the opening rounds of the ITA Indoor Team Championships in Durham, N.C., taking on Virginia Tech.
