EVANSTON, Ill.-- Arvid Swan's dual-match coaching debut ended in a 4-0 sweep over University of Illinois-Chicago on Sunday at the Combe Tennis Center.

NU swept the doubles portion of the match, quickly earning the first point. The Wildcats began with a No. 1 doubles team of junior Marc Dwyer (Peachtree City, Ga./University of Nebraska-Independent Study H.S.) and sophomore Alex Sanborn (Houston, Texas/Kinkaid), who defeated UIC 8-5. Graduate student Alexander Thams' first match at NU came with freshman partner Peter Rispoli (Naples, Fla. (St. Stephen's (Texas)), and ended 8-6, as did the 'Cats third doubles team of freshman David Seyferth (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) and senior Juan Gomez (Mexico City, Mexico).

Sanborn was the first to put away his singles opponent, dispatching Eric Fey 6-2, 6-2. Gomez followed suit with a 6-3, 6-3 victory, which ended just seconds after Sanborn's win. The match put the 'Cats one point away from victory with four chances remaining.

Dwyer though put away any thoughts of a UIC comeback, burying Bastian Harbo 6-4, 6-3. The remaining three matches featuring Thams, Rispoli and Seyferth did not finish due to the fourth match going final.

The match was the first of two on the day for NU, as the 'Cats host the University of Chicago at 7 p.m. Sunday night.
