    Men's Tennis Team Jumps to No. 13 in ITA National Poll

    EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern men's tennis team, under the direction of head coach Paul Torricelli, is ranked 13th in the latest ITA national poll. This ties the highest ranking for the Wildcat team, which also was No. 13 in 1990. The 'Cats, who have a 7-1 overall record, jumped eight spots from No. 21 to No. 13.

    Three Wildcats are ranked among the top 60 players nationally. Junior Marc Silva (Telford, Pa./Pennridge), the 1998 Big Ten Singles champion, is ranked a career-high No. 20 nationally. Silva is up 15 spots from the last ITA poll. Senior Alex Witt (Houston, Texas/Memorial) is right behind him at No. 21. Junior Doug Bohaboy (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) moved into the national poll for the first time in his career and is ranked No. 57.

    The doubles team of Witt and sophomore Martin Bengtsson (Stockholm, Sweden/Brammkyrka) jumped 24 spots to No. 17, the duo's best showing in the national poll.
