EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's men's and women's squads host a busy weekend, with the TYR Invitational at the Norris Aquatics Center this Friday through Sunday, Nov. 22-24.
The Wildcats will welcome seven schools, Kenyon College, North Dakota, UIC, Michigan State, Truman State and Missouri State, who will bring both their men’s and women’s squads, while Bowling Green will compete with women's team only.
Action gets underway each morning with a preliminary session at 9 a.m. CT followed by finals sessions each night beginning at 5 p.m. CT. Sunday's finals session will start at 3 p.m. CT. Diving preliminary competitions start at 1 p.m. CT Friday and Saturday, and at 10 a.m. CT Sunday. Live Results will be available courtesy of Director of Aquatics Ed Martig and his staff.
The event order for the 2012 TYR Invitational will be:
Friday: 50 breast, 500 free, 200 IM, 50 Free, men’s 1-meter, women’s 3-meter diving, 200 free relay (finals only), 50 breast (finals only), 500 free (finals only), 200 IM (finals only), 50 free, 400 medley relay, men’s 1-meter and women’s 3-meter diving finals.
Saturday: 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, men’s 3-meter, women’s 1-meter diving, 200 medley relay (finals only), 400 IM (finals only), 100 fly (finals only), 200 free (finals only), 100 breast (finals only), 100 back (finals only), 800 free relay, (finals only), men’s 3-meter, women’s 1-meter diving finals.
Sunday: 50 fly, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 50 back, 200 fly, 1,650 free (after prelims), platform diving finals (10 a.m. CT), 1,650 free final heat (women) (finals only), 50 fly (finals only), 200 back (finals only), 100 free (finals only), 1,650 free final heat (men) (finals only), 200 breast (finals only), 50 back (finals only), 200 fly, (finals only), 400 free relay (finals only).
The TYR Invitational annually features fast swimming and great racing as NU's teams attempt to go low to establish strong seed times for the upcoming Big Ten Championships. Pool records are set nearly every year at this meet.
