EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's men's and women's swimming and diving teams will welcome four schools to the Norris Aquatics Center Friday-Sunday, Nov. 19-21, for the three-day TYR NU Invitational.
Pittsburgh, Missouri, Southern Illinois and Division III national champion Kenyon College will participate in the Invite.
Friday's preliminaries will begin at 11 a.m. with the finals starting at 6 p.m., Saturday's prelims go off at 10 a.m. with the finals beginning at 5 p.m. and Sunday's action starts with preliminaries at 9 a.m. and finals at 3 p.m.
Several Wildcats enter this weekend's action ranked in the latest Taper & Shave College Quick 50. Eight men are rated in 13 different individual events while four NU relays are ranked.
The men's 200 medley relay currently has the fastest time in the nation at 1:29.51 while the 400 medley relay is third with a time of 3:17.09.
Individually, sophomore Mike Alexandrov (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) is ranked in seven individual events while classmate Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) is rated in six. The pair have each swam three top-3 times in the nation.
Senior Brian Davis (Issaquah, Wash./Issaquah) and freshman Kyle Bubolz (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) are ranked in four events; seniors Matt Wever (Boise, Idaho/Boise) and Louis Torres (Morton Grove, Ill./Niles West) are rated in two; and sophomore Kevin Donohue (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingston) and freshman David Kormushoff (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) are ranked in one each.
NU's women also have a number of swimmers ranked in the Quick 50, headlined by senior Christy Olin's (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) 16th-best time in the nation in the 200 fly (2:01.26). She also has a top-50 time in the 100 fly.
Freshman Andrea Hupman (Lawrenceville, Ga./Brookwood) is ranked in three freestyle events while junior Katie Paglini (Chicago, Ill./Latin School) and senior Brielle Bovee (Winter Park, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) are rated in two events each. Freshman Jessie Bailis (Omaha, Neb./Millard North) is rated in one event.
Four Wildcat women's relays also have top-50 times in the nation.
