EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern returns to competition for the first time since its winter training trip at 5 p.m. CT Wednesday, Jan. 16, in a dual meet against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Klotsche Natatorium.
After opening the season with a tough dual meet at defending Mid-American Conference champion Eastern Michigan, Northwestern faces another strong opponent in three-time defending Horizon League titlist Milwaukee. The Panthers enter Wednesday with a 4-1 dual-meet record on the season and a win at the Stevens Point Border Battle Invitational in November.
The Wildcats mixed things up with their annual winter training trip this season, taking advantage of a later-than-normal start to the winter academic quarter to get their work in after the Christmas holiday instead of before as they have in year's past. NU head coach Jarod Schroeder hopes the change in regimen will help kick start his squad in the final run-up to the Big Ten Championships in February.
NU put together a 2-3 overall dual meet record during the fall season, but won its own TYR Invitational in resounding fashion in November to close out the first portion of the schedule. Wednesday marks the first of just two January dual meets for the Wildcats before their final Big Ten tune-up, the Northwestern Invitational Feb. 1-2 at the Norris Aquatics Center.
Live results are not available for Wednesday's meet.
