    EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern travels to its last road meet of the regular season at 1 p.m. CT Saturday, Jan. 14, to take on the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Northwestern has dominated Notre Dame in the recent series, owning an eight-season winning streak before falling a year ago. The Wildcats will look to steal away the Luck of the Irish once again this Saturday.

    The Northwestern men had a pool record-setting double dual meet victory against Division II opponent Lewis University and Division III threat Carthage College in their last outing, shattering three pool records on Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Lewis pool.

    Both of the Wildcat relay teams set pool records in that meet. The 200 medley relay force of Jake Grosser (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East), Tim Smith (Oakland, Calif./De La Salle), Mark Ferguson (Perth, Australia/John XXIII) and Alexander Ratajczyk (Parlin, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) combined to for one the 200 free relay team of Tony Valcic (Ribnica, Slovenia/Gimnazija Ledina), Grosser, Chase Stephens (Madison, Wis./Edgewood) and Matthew Margritier (Leawood, Kan./Rockhurst) had a 7.64-second margin of victory for their mark.

    Charlie Rimkus (Tustin Calif./Beckman) entered the books with a blistering 200 IM swim for a pool record time of 1:52.04.

    Notre Dame will prove to be a challenge this Saturday. The 4-3 Fighting Irish received votes in the Top 25 Poll by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

     

     

    This will be the last road meet for the Northwestern men. The Northwestern Wildcats will return home to contend with the Iowa Hawkeyes at 11 a.m. CT Saturday, Jan 21, with NU's Endowment Campaign Kickoff event to follow at 6 p.m. that evening.
