    EVANSTON, ILL.  --  Northwestern returns to the Norris Aquatics Center Saturday at 1:00 p.m. CT for a combined meet.

    The men’s swimming and diving team faces Michigan, ranked No. 1 in the nation by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) and No. 20 Notre Dame.

    The women’s swimming and diving team takes on No. 24 Michigan, No. 25 Notre Dame and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

    Saturday’s Need to Know

    For the No. 1 Michigan men’s team, junior Bruno Ortiz was named Big Ten Men's Swimmer of the Week last week, taking first place in the 50-meter freestyle (23.10) and 50-meter breaststroke (28.07) at the Orange Bowl Classic.

    Senior Michael Wynalda (200-yard freestyle) and Dylan Bosch (200-yard butterfly) posted Wolverine record times last week in the AT&T Classic.

    For No. 20 Notre Dame, junior swimmer Zach Stephens and freshman diver Joe Coumos were named ACC Swimmer and Diver of the Week winners last week after the Irish’s performance at the Hawkeye Invitational.

    The No. 24 Michigan women has three relay teams ranked in the top three among Big Ten teams. Julia Fiks Salem, Ali DeLoof, Madeline Frost and Zoe Mattingly swam a time of 1:30.40 at the U.S. Winter Nationals (Dec. 5-7).

    No. 25 Notre Dame is 4-3 on the season. Junior Emma Reaney (breaststroke) is a four time ACC Swimmer of the Week this season.

    The Rutgers women enter the meet at 5-1-1, coming off a 150-150 tie against Illinois on Friday, Jan. 10.

    Against the Illini junior Greta Leberfinger won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, with times of 1:04.72 and 2:19.82.

    Joanna Wu won the 200 yard freestyle (1:53.97) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:01.81).

    Both were members of the winning 200 yard medley relay team.
